How much can be saved by replacing lighting with LED in a production hall?
A production hall operating 16 hours/day with sodium lighting (250 W/fixture) after replacing it with LED (100 W/fixture) saves 60% of energy on lighting. For 50 fixtures, this is 30 kW * 16h * 250 days = 120,000 kWh/year * approx. 0.70 PLN = 84,000 PLN/year. An investment cost of 40–60 thousand PLN is recouped in 6–9 months.
Does lighting modernization require a building permit?
Replacing lighting fixtures with LED within the existing electrical installation usually does not require a building permit or notification — it is sufficient to commission the work to a certified electrician. The exception is cases where the wiring route is changed or a control system is installed that requires interference with the building structure.
What is the lifespan of industrial LED fixtures?
Industrial LED fixtures of class L70B10 have a lifespan of 50,000–100,000 hours at a temperature of 25°C. In practice, with 16 hours of operation per day and 250 working days, the first fixture replacement occurs after 12–25 years. LEDs do not burn out suddenly — they gradually lose brightness (lumen maintenance), which facilitates maintenance planning.
What is the DALI control system and is it worth installing?
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a digital lighting control protocol that allows individual addressing of each fixture, dimming, grouping, and integration with a BMS system. Combined with presence sensors and luminance sensors, it further reduces energy consumption by 20–40%. It is cost-effective in halls with shift work, open-space offices, and parking lots.
