The energy sector in Poland has been developing dynamically for several years. Changes in energy prices, distribution charges, the possibility of choosing an electricity supplier or an appropriate tariff tailored to our needs, as well as the uncertainty in the market caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, make it easy to get lost. Meanwhile, electricity is an indispensable part of modern life. How much will we pay for electricity then? Where can we look for savings? How can you become more energy independent and feel secure? Many people have certainly come across advertisements promising ‘free electricity’, ‘solar energy’, ‘photovoltaics’ or even ‘£5,000 subsidies’. Such slogans raise a lot of questions to which the average Pole often does not know the answers. As a result, more and more Poles are opting for the services of energy advisors.
How to Choose a Reliable Photovoltaic Contractor?
In Poland, we can observe a rapid development of the so-called prosumer power industry, in which the user not only consumes energy, but also produces it thanks to his or her own installation. In this way, we can build a backyard solar power plant to cover the electricity needs of our home or business. Many companies have appeared on the market offering comprehensive photovoltaic installation services, but not all of them meet quality standards. Unfortunately, we are increasingly encountering incompetent ‘professionals’ who, although enthusiastic, offer services of questionable quality. Hence the ironic title of the article and the erroneous form “Photovoltaics”.
Why does the quality of photovoltaic components matter?
Investing in photovoltaics is a decision for many years, so careful thought should be given to the choice of installation company. Before signing a contract, it is worth meeting with an advisor who will assess whether our location meets the technical requirements for a photovoltaic installation and whether the investment will be profitable. Then, it is necessary to choose the right components, which are not worth saving on – it is better to bet on proven technologies. It is also important to make sure that the contractor will take care of the formalities, such as reporting the installation to the Distribution System Operator (DSO) and applying for subsidies or financial support. The investor does not need to be familiar with these aspects.
How do I check the quotation and express installation?
It is worth remembering that not every photovoltaic installation is equal. It may consist of components of varying quality from more or less reputable manufacturers. For example, the ‘TIER 1’ ranking list includes manufacturers that meet strict requirements regarding production quality and financial stability. In the case of inverters, it is important to check what warranty period you can count on and whether the manufacturer has a service in Poland. If an offer for a photovoltaic installation is significantly cheaper than others, this may mean that low-quality components have been used. It is also worth paying attention to the experience of the installation team and asking for references. An important factor for the investor may be the lead time – companies with their own warehouses can usually start the installation faster, which reduces the waiting time, especially during the summer.
Savings vs quality
Cheap does not always mean better. Every service has its value, and choosing a good contractor is an investment in comfort and peace of mind. To avoid unnecessary nerves and financial losses, it is worth betting on a company with an experienced team of specialists. Ultimately, it is up to us to decide whether we choose ‘Photovoltaics’ or ‘Photovoltaics’.
